Cattle dogs and guard dogs breeding both belong to the category of sheepdogs frames, but it is important to understand that two breeds are very different. Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGD) were developed and bred to protect livestock from predators such as wolves, jackals, coyotes, monkeys, leopards, sheepdogs bears, etc. and the other have been developed and selected for … Well, the herd!
Date of sentinel cattle thousands of years ago to 2000 years are a common sight in many parts of the world. Although many of these working dogs have been considered until recently as a few races in the west, the truth is that millions and were these dogs work to protect animals worldwide. In fact, the protection of animals could have been one of the first primary human uses for dogs.
It is reasonable to assume that the guards were from the Middle East Livestock, especially when one considers that this is where domesticated livestock. Following of this thought pattern is not unreasonable to say whether the protection of livestock breeds can be several thousands of years, but are certainly not before the sheep the first domestic animal (there are about 8000 years). There are many historical references and drawings of guardian dog breeding dating back thousands of years.
When you think about the protection of cattle dogs in general, some breeds from spring to mind. These races are:

Caucasian Ovcharka
Great Pyrenees
Tibetan Mastif
Kuvasz
Komondor
Maremma Sheepdog
Berger Podhale
Tibetan Mastiff
Sarplaninac
Size and appearance
The above list is not exhaustive and if some of these races are very well known and others not. A feature Most surprising of protecting cattle dogs is that they tend to be larger in size than most canines. This reality should not we too surprising given that these dogs were bred to deter predators, some of which reach a considerable size, like bears and wolves. Another feature notable of livestock protection dogs is that very often are white (a feature more common in European races based). There are a number of reasons for the tendency for white in these dogs range from plain old superstition ancient myth that the white represents the purity of the strain.
Most of the pastors of the region say they prefer white dogs because they blend into the herd, and therefore are more difficult to detect by marauding wolves or other predators. These are all desirable traits in working dogs used in improving the profession and protecting these features are based on what constitutes "nature" component of "nature versus nurture" equation.
